Who We Are

We are a campus ministry of the American Baptist Churches USA to the University of Illinois. We are located in the midst of the Urbana-Champaign campus, just four blocks from the Quad, the center of university activity. University Baptist Church was established in 1912. Various housing ministries were added in 1949, 1952, 1986, and 2006. A Foundation was established in 1950 so that properties could be managed. A generous gift was given the BSF in 1969 by community member Mrs. C.M. Hobart, thus beginning the BSF endowment.

Our primary ministries are:

University Baptist Church

Baptist Housing Ministry

Koinonia Christian - Cooperative for undergraduate men

Stratford House - Undergraduate women

Sutton Place - Graduate students

312 House - Junior, senior, and graduate women

What does University Baptist Church do?
University Baptist Church (UBC) is a Christian community centered around worship, study, prayer, service and fellowship. Our foundation helps assure this local body of believers has adequate staff and sufficient resources to carry out the work of the church as outlined in the New Testament.

What does the Baptist Housing Ministry do?
The Housing Ministry provides undergraduate and graduate men and women opportunities for spiritual growth, for personal growth and for ministry. Our foundation oversees the maintenance and upkeep of its physical needs. In seeking to preserve the cooperative nature of the living community within each house, we provide leadership training, mentorship and spiritual counsel.
