University Baptist Church was founded in 1912 with the first building being dedicated in 1916. The housing ministry was inaugurated with a women's residency in 1949 (Stratford/"312" House). A men's house followed in 1952 (Koinonia). The Foundation was created in 1950 to "greatly strengthen...the legal and administrative aspects of the local mission," (Sutton, 01). In 1986 the John Street house was purchased and named Sutton Place. In 2006 a new Stratford House was constructed at 310 E. Daniel to meet the needs of today's undergraduate women.
